During the 2021-2022 school year, students from André Lahaye college worked on a tourist map project that could be done by bike, between Andernos and Arès. Today, we are giving them carte blanche on our blog to tell you about their experience. Here we go !
Here we are in sixth grade and the middle school teachers are asking us to make a tourist map!
What a funny idea… but what an adventure! In addition, the tourist office will help us with the project.
Let's first choose the remarkable sites of Andernos and Ares because we live in these two towns! Too bad… The skatepark is not selected!
In geo history we draw the map with our teacher on geo portal. Not easy but we discover some very nice little paths on the map which will surely allow us to see beautiful landscapes. At the same time, our French teacher made us do research using tourist brochures and websites so that we could write short explanatory texts about our route! It's long but we like working on the computer!
The math teachers make us calculate the travel time! And the English teacher, using puzzle games, encourages us to find slogans for each remarkable site.
Phew! The virtual journey is over. That doesn’t seem bad to us! Now you have to check all of this during a bike ride! It will be the best part of the job for sure! Well, if the weather is good… Storms, torrential rain, wind… Will we make it?
Fortunately, the good weather returned and we set off by bike for a great day of discoveries and checking our data. We calculate average speeds, we rediscover places that are familiar to us from another angle, we have a good laugh with friends... and even with the teachers. Plus, we're going to become stars because the students from the school's media club are doing a report on us!
What a day full of emotions and sensations.
Back at the school, we set off again to make our little arrangements for our plan... Thanks to our experience, we advise tourists for this lovely 18,5 km bike ride between cycle paths and forest paths, we choose the drawings and the elements that marked us during our outing! The model is complete!
We can't wait to discover the map that the tourist office will publish for us! We worked so hard on it! Now to them!!!
June 20, the day of handing over the cards. We discover it and frankly… we are not disappointed! We're definitely going to take all our friends this summer to do the route and we advise everyone to ask for the map or download it from the tourist office.
See you next year for a treasure map!
