We tested it for you – A bike tour with Vélocation

Our partners always have brilliant ideas, that of Vélocation is no exception to the rule! Combining cycling, guided tour and oyster tasting (and white wine but in moderation!), we had to think about it. So obviously, it made us want to test… We’re taking you with us on this two-wheeled adventure.

At 17 p.m. sharp, we get on our bikes to meet our guide. The meeting was set for 17:15 p.m. at the oyster port. Let's not lie to ourselves, Julie and I, faithful testers of the destination's activities, put our butts on a bike for the last time a very long time ago (we don't dare give a date...). We might as well tell you that we are setting out to discover this walk with a little apprehension about our ability to keep up with the pace (spoiler alert, this is not the case, the walk is accessible to everyone, regardless of your level!) .

After immortalizing our journey with a few photos, here we are at the oyster port. There we find Emelin the guide who explains to us what the route will be while waiting for the rest of the group.

After some general presentations on the history of Andernos and the basin, we headed towards our first stop. In fact, barely 100 meters to go to reach the Saint-Eloi church where we learn more about this building as well as the Gallo-Roman remains, a few meters (not to say centimeters…) apart.

Julie and I are lucky enough to know the Saint-Eloi church, to have visited it time and time again and yet its charm never weakens. Once again, we are amazed by its colors on the ceiling, its unique metal furniture and this incredible view of the pool.

We then resume our wandering towards our next stop. Foot ashore at the entrance to the pedestrian zone, we quietly reach the end of the pier to enjoy its incredible point of view on the land and sea sides. Once again, the Andernosian landscape is revealed and we can only notice that we never get tired of it. After a few anecdotes about the pier (the longest in the basin!) and about Sarah Bernhardt, we hit the road again towards the Louis David house.

You will have understood, from sublime site to cycling interlude, we (re)discover Andernos with joy and wonder. The pace of the walk allows us to admire the landscape and the villas that cross our path. But let's not forget, we have one final appointment: the tasting.

Offered as an option, you can also choose to focus solely on the guided tour. But you are starting to know us, we never say no to a friendly moment! So head to Benjamin's cabin for a tasting of oysters from his production. The opportunity to share about your profession and learn more about the basin and its daily life.

To summarize, Vélocation offers you a timeless moment in this original visit allowing you to discover a wide range of emblematic sites of the city in around two hours and to end this walk with the pearl of the basin. In a word, go for it, you will not be disappointed!!
